Biography

Shontay Delalue is a higher education administrator and scholar with extensive experience in strategic planning and global relations. In July 2021, she was appointed as the inaugural Senior Vice President and Senior Diversity Officer at Dartmouth College overseeing Institutional Diversity and Equity (IDE). She is a senior strategist and thought partner helping to shape Dartmouth’s key university-wide priorities related to inclusion and global engagement.

Under her leadership, in 2022 the IDE team launched a 3-year diversity and inclusion plan: Toward Equity. She later played an instrumental role in expanding Dartmouth’s global portfolio through the creation of the international student experience office. She holds an Adjunct Assistant Professorship in African and African American Studies and an Adjunct Assistant Professorship in Health Policy and Clinical Practice where she teaches annually in the residential Master of Public Health program at the Geisel School of Medicine. Before joining Dartmouth, Dr. Delalue served as a Vice President at Brown University, overseeing the university’s landmark 10-year, $165 million Pathways to Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan. In her career, she has worked in admissions, academic advising, counseling, international affairs as well as civil rights and immigration compliance in Maine, Alaska, and Rhode Island.

Dr. Delalue is the founder of the Black Health & Wealth Equity Lab, an interdisciplinary initiative advancing scholarship and practice on health disparities and wealth inequality. She is also the co-creator of the groundbreaking medical comic series Medical Misogynoir™, a graphic medicine project illuminating the intersection of racism and sexism experienced by Black women in healthcare. Her additional research explores financial knowledge among first-generation college students, collective grief within tight-knit communities, and cultural immersion in West Africa as a pathway toward self-actualization.

Externally, Dr. Delalue is a TIAA Institute Research Fellow, a member of TIAA’s Financial Education Council, serves as the Chair of the University of Maine Board of Visitors, and recently co-chaired the Ivy+ Faculty Advancement Network for several years supporting faculty development and inclusion across several of America’s top research universities. She was recently named a 2026-27 ACE Fellow.

A proud first-generation college graduate from New Jersey, Dr. Delalue earned her BA in Communication and M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Maine, her Ph.D. in Education through the joint program at the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College, and her Master of Public Health from Dartmouth. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a lifelong learner, dynamic speaker and global traveler who has visited 48 U.S. states and more than 50 countries across all seven continents, bringing intellectual rigor, cultural fluency, and authentic leadership to every platform she graces.
