Biography

Tennille Haynes, PhD Bio Dr. Tennille Haynes has 19 years of experience in higher education and is deeply committed to creating inclusive environments. She is dedicated to advancing scholarship and practices that promote the inclusion of all community members, especially those with historically and contemporary excluded identities. Hailing from The Bronx in New York City, Tennille earned a Bachelor's degree in History from Stony Brook University, a Master's in Education from Utica College, and a doctorate from Rutgers University's Graduate School of Education. Dr. Haynes began her tenure as the new Associate Vice President for Inclusion and Strategic Engagement within Institutional Diversity and Equity at Dartmouth in Fall 2024. Prior to Dartmouth, she most recently served as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Princeton University. During her time at Princeton, Tennille played a vital role in improving co-curricular learning opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. Her leadership in advising on diversity, inclusion, social justice, and community-building initiatives ensured that constituents from all over the world felt supported and valued. Tennille's passion for providing a strategic lens to culturally relevant education on race, ethnicity, nationality, class, civic engagement, and leadership development is evident in her work, which examines, challenges and improves systems and structures.
